“The injustice and gaps in the system mean there’s a desperate need for change. The more I ca help people come forward and tell their story, the more society can realise how prevalent these issues are.”

Penny is an Associate with Shine Lawyers in Melbourne. She represents survivors of abuse in their claims for compensation, often against large religious or other institutions.

Penny was drawn to work in abuse law from a desire to protect vulnerable people and support them in pursuing a civil claim for child sex abuse compensation. She is passionate about helping her clients understand their legal rights and entitlements, so they are empowered during an often-challenging legal process.

In addition to her extensive experience in abuse law, Penny has represented clients in workers’ compensation claims, travel law and family law. While completing her university studies, Penny gave back to her community as a student volunteer at South-East Monash Legal Service.
