Mal has been a stoic and unflinching advocate for his clients for 30 years. He takes the time to listen to every client, to understand their pain and trauma and how he can help.

Mal is a Special Counsel with Shine Lawyers’ Abuse Law team, based in our Adelaide branch.

Mal has 30 years of legal experience and has represented clients with matters involving medical negligence, public liability, motor vehicle accidents and abuse. He has secured life-changing compensation for clients, including a settlement of $12 million in a medical negligence claim.

Since joining Shine Lawyers, Mal has advocated for survivors of abuse, standing up to some of Australia’s biggest institutions, including churches, schools and government departments.

"I am driven to give a voice to mistreated members of our society. It is a privilege to deliver justice and closure, and to help them move forward with their lives."

Law is Mal’s second career. For 15 years, Mal practised as a pharmacist in the northern suburbs of Adelaide and was a Fellow of the Australian College of Pharmacy Practice. Mal’s medical background informs his legal practice.

Mal has been recognised on multiple occasions by Doyles Guide. In 2022 he was recognised for his advocacy for survivors of abuse and people seeking asylum in Australia, with the Australian Lawyers Alliance National Civil Justice Award.
